All reviewsReview of the bookmaker Skybet from Legalbet
Sky Bet is one of the most popular bookmakers in the UK market, being part of the Sky Betting and Gaming, an online gambling company that is owned by The Stars Group. Sky Bet is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commision in the UK, while for the International customers they are licensed by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
Odds — normal
We calculated the margin for Skybet by analysing the odds they offer and placed them into one of the following three categories:
From 1% to 5%: Good value
Over 5% to 7%: Average value
Over 7% to 10%: Poor value
Football
We’re getting our results by taking into account the odds for final result outcomes measured in line with the total goals scored for different football leagues. By getting the average results using this method, we were able to obtain the margins for each league and also the overall betting margin for the bookmaker.
Skybet has an overall margin of 6.88% for football and falls in the average value category. In the first section using odds from the Premier League, the margin is at 6.43%. The second section with Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, the margin is at 6.39%. Finally, by counting the English Football League One, Austrian Bundesliga and Polish Ekstraklasa into account, the margin is at 7.83%.
Betting options — good
A huge bookmaker like Sky Bet cannot disappoint when it comes to featured sports and events. They possess one of the largest selections of betting markets in the industry, providing odds for over 30 sports and 11 non-sports markets such as politics, virtual sports or entertainment. Overall, the users can wager on almost any sport and the amount of betting markets it’s more than impressive.
Football betting
It’s widely known that SkyBet are really strong when it comes to football and horse racing markets. This bookmaker provides an excellent coverage of all football events in the English Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and other major European leagues like the Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1.
SkyBet offers an extensive range of betting markets for the English Premier League, including how many shots on target will be delivered by a specific player, or how many assists or passes a player will have. Apart from the unique betting markets, SkyBet also offers the classic markets like the full-time result, under/over goals, both teams to score, first team to score, correct score and so much more.
In addition, SkyBet provides its customers with enhanced odds and price boosts on several sports on a daily basis. The promotion tab can be found on the left-hand side of the home page and we advise you to check this tab daily as you may get better prices for your selection.
Horse Racing
The Horse racing section can be accessed from the favourites tab, which is located on the left-hand side of the main page. The section is well structured as the customers can easily navigate between the most popular bets, next 10, featured meetings, future races, specials and tote bets.
As for the coverage itself, it’s very comprehensive with hundreds of races on a daily basis from all over the world. As I write this review, I can find odds on races from the likes of Lingfield, Catterick, Angers, Kenilworth, but also races from the US, South Africa or Australia.
As with most reputable bookmakers, SkyBet offers the Best Odds Guarantee, which means that you will be paid out at the best possible price for your selection.
Betting Limits: The minimum deposit amount is ₤5 while the minimum withdrawal amount is ₤10. There is no maximum cash out limit, but there is a daily winning limit for ₤500,000 on horse racing and football, and up to ₤250,000 on other sports such as tennis, darts, rugby, cricket, etc.
In-play — good
As you would expect, SkyBet offers one of the best in-play betting platforms in the market due to their ties with the Sky Sports channels. The In-play section sits right in the middle of the home page and it features the most popular sports. The odds, scores and stats are easy to see and this allows the bettors to quickly place their bets.
The lack of live streaming for some important football matches comes as a surprise given the fact that they are part of the Sky brand. However, they still stream several tennis events during the year and even some football matches from the MLS. In addition, customers can watch live streams of many UK and Irish horse races if they have wagered at least ₤1.
