All reviewsReview of the bookmaker Leovegas from Legalbet
LeoVegas was initially launched back in 2012 as an online casino and after winning several awards for their excellent casino services, they have decided to introduce a sportsbook section to compete with the biggest names in the industry. They are based in Malta, but also have offices in Sweden and the United Kingdom. LeoVegas holds two licenses, one from the Malta Gaming Authority and one from the UK Gambling Commission.
Odds — normal
We calculated the margin for LeoVegas by analysing the odds they offer and placed them into one of the following three categories:
From 1% to 5%: Good value
Over 5% to 7%: Average value
Over 7% to 10%: Poor value
Football
We’re getting our results by taking into account the odds for final result outcomes measured in line with the total goals scored for different football leagues. By getting the average results using this method, we were able to obtain the margins for each league and also the overall betting margin for the bookmaker.
LeoVegas has an overall average margin of 6.75% for football and falls in the average value category. In the first section using odds from the Premier League, the margin is at 5.75%. The second section with Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, the margin is at 6.47%. Finally, by counting the English Football League One, Austrian Bundesliga and Polish Ekstraklasa into account, the margin is at 8.05%.
Betting options — normal
Despite being relatively new in the betting industry, LeoVegas have already developed a respectable portfolio sportsbook. They have around 35 different sports to choose from, with football, tennis and basketball being displayed in the middle of the homepage. If you want to wager on a less different sport you can click on the ‘Browse sports’ button to select the betting markets you’re looking for. There is also a search box that allows you to find a specific event or team in a much faster manner.
Football betting
Football is by far the most popular sport at LeoVegas and we can easily observe that by checking the impressive number of leagues and tournaments available. LeoVegas has done an amazing job to cover at least one competition from each country and the variety of betting markets is more than enough for any punter. We have found over 150 betting markets for a typical Premier League match, including the most common markets like 1x2 match result, Asian Handicaps, over/under goals, corners or cards, and many more.
Each match comes with a bunch of useful stats like the recent form, head-to-head results, facts, standings, etc. In addition, the LeoVegas customers can use the Bet Builder feature if they want to create a custom betslip for a specific match.
We were very surprised to see that the LeoVegas odds offer real value as the prices are as good as the ones from other top bookmakers like Bet 365, William Hill or Bet Victor.
Horse racing
Horse racing is another popular sport in Ireland and LeoVegas made sure that their horse racing section can compete with the other reputable bookmakers. The horse racing category can be accessed via the Sports menu and we have to say that the design is very clean and sharp. Users can navigate between three main tabs such as ‘Next Off’, ‘Meetings’ and ‘Ante-post’, while the main events of the day can be selected from the drop-down menu. In addition, on each individual meeting the bettors can find useful info about form, age and weight for each horse, as well as a race preview.
In terms of odds, we haven’t seen the ‘Best Odds Guaranteed” promotion available on the LeoVegas horse racing, but we’re pretty sure that they will introduce this in the near future.
Betting Limits: The limits are more than adequate for the vast majority of bettors. In addition, the users are able to set their own deposit, loss, session and wagering limits via the Responsible Gambling menu.
Live — normal
The Live Betting section is actually the first section on the main menu from the home page, which means that it’s the most popular area for the LeoVegas customers. After clicking on the ‘Live-Now’ tab, the users will be able to see that the live events are split into sporting categories. At the moment of writing this review, we had several live events from football, tennis, table tennis and even eSports.
The live betting odds are competitive and the prices shift up in real time. The number of betting markets available for each live event is decent, but it’s not the best in the industry as other bookmakers offer many more betting options.
LeoVegas has a live streaming service available, although it’s mostly focused on tennis and Greyhound races, as this bookmaker is not holding the rights to stream several major football competitions from Europe.
