All reviewsReview of the bookmaker Coral from Legalbet
The Coral business was established by Joe Coral in 1926. It grew into an entertainment corporation before undergoing a series of ownership changes starting in 1981. In November 1999, Coral acquired Eurobet, an online betting operation based in Gibraltar, for £7.1 million.
In November 2016, Gala Coral was acquired by Ladbrokes, which changed its name to Ladbrokes Coral. Coral and Ladbrokes shops continued to operate under their respective names. GVC Holdings acquired Ladbrokes Coral in March 2018.
As well as being a high-street name they are also the main sponsor of the Coral UK Open (tennis tournament) as well as official partners to the English football clubs Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion.
Odds - Average
We calculated the margin for Coral by analysing the odds they offer and placed them into one of the following three categories:
From 1% to 5%: Good value
Over 5% to 7%: Average value
Over 7% to 10%: Poor value
Football
We’re getting our results by taking into account the odds for final result outcomes measured in line with the total goals scored for different football leagues. By getting the average results using this method, we were able to obtain the margins for each league and also the overall betting margin for the bookmaker.
Coral has an overall margin of 6.23% for football and falls in the average value category. In the first section using odds from the Premier League, the margin is at 5.48%. The second section with Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, the margin is at 6.00%. Finally, by counting the English Football League One, Austrian Bundesliga and Polish Ekstraklasa into account, the margin is at 7.22%.
Range of Sports and Markets - Good
Coral provides a large range of Sports and is getting into great depths as far as markets are concerned for most of them, especially the major ones. It’s one of the biggest UK high street brands and they pride themselves for covering the entire sporting field.
Football
Football is getting Coral’s large amount of attention. The markets are well equipped and the betting options offered can reach the 200 mark on most events that can be found within its menus. More than that, combined bets or combo bets (e.g. Player to score first & Final result) but also special bets on players, minutes or the way a game is evolving are there for you to bet on.
Horse racing
The other main focus at Coral is Horse racing, where they offer Early Prices, Best Odds Guaranteed and all the accumulators one may expect from doubles up to Lucky 15s. They also offer Extra Place terms on certain races. They cover all UK and Irish Horse racing meetings offering prices on all the big events and races, such as Cheltenham or The Grand National, several months in advance. With Coral you can also bet on non-sporting events as well, such as Entertainment and Politics. They even have a fun side with WWE and Movies Specials for everyone interested in these.
Betting limits: The limits are more than enough for the great majority of bettors, but they’re getting lower as the status of the events does.
In-Play Betting - Good
At the homepage you can select to view the in-play part of the site showing all the live events currently playing, but also a schedule of events that are due to begin next. To find out more information on any event of your likes, click on it and you will be presented with all the latest odds and statistics about it.
The offered range of live football markets as well as in-play live events from tennis, ice hockey, basketball, volleyball and even eSports is very wide. Over 70 live betting markets for a live football match from the Premier League and over 50 betting options for a basketball game is quite something and will leave everyone happy no matter what their betting habits are.
All odds and scores are of course updated in real time, which ensures users that they’ll never miss a goal, point or touchdown. One addition Coral has been recently is the live streaming service it has, mainly covering Horse racing and Greyhounds, but also more on selected sports and events.
Having so many in-play options makes the ability to mark certain events as favorites and to pin them to the top of the screen an extra useful feature, which is really welcomed from most bettors.
