Prediction for Inter – Liverpool
Both sides lost in the previous round and will be looking to respond, so I expect an open game. Inter at home play with a forward intent: in their last 18 Champions League home matches the team failed to score in regular time on only one occasion, and they hit at least two goals in ten of those fixtures. That attacking approach, however, often leaves defensive gaps opponents can exploit — across the six most recent home matches in this competition Inter kept a clean sheet just once. Remarkably, the Italians even failed to keep a shutout in their recent tie with Kairat.
Liverpool are going through a difficult patch, but the side remain committed to creating chances every match. In Europe the Reds score regularly, and even away from home their attacking output has been strong: in their last 22 Champions League away fixtures they failed to score only twice. On the flip side their defensive form is worrying: eight goals conceded in five matches so far this season and just four clean sheets in their previous 13 away European games.
